Rules for Weddings

The Stone Church, Cragsmoor
  1. All arrangements must be made through Friends of the Stone Church, PO Box 38, Cragsmoor, New York 12420, (845) 647-4716. The Church is not available during hours of worship, 11:15 am to 12:15 pm every Sunday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The Church is also not available from January through March.
  2. The rental fee for the Church is $1,000 ($1,200 for a September or October wedding), which covers the wedding service, including time for preparation and photographs on the day of the wedding (maximum of three hours total), a rehearsal on a different day (maximum of two hours) and normal parking, custodial service and cleaning before and after the wedding. This fee applies whether the wedding will be held inside or outside the Church.
  3. You may decorate the Church in advance of your wedding and you may put up signs indicating the way to the Church, but you must remove all decorations immediately after the wedding, as well as any signs, balloons, etc. on the roads leading to the church.
  4. To reserve the Church, you must fill out this Wedding Agreement and return it with a deposit of $500 ($600 for September or October); checks/money orders should be made payable to “Friends of the Stone Church.” Only one wedding is scheduled for any given day; the first couple to return a signed Agreement with the deposit will reserve that day.
  5. If you cancel your wedding more than six months before your scheduled date, your deposit will be refunded. If you cancel less than six months before that date, your deposit will be forfeited.
  6. The remainder of the fee must be paid in full at least 30 days before the wedding. If full payment is not received by that date, your reservation will be cancelled, and your deposit will not be refunded.
  7. The Church is open to all persons and faiths, and anyone authorized to conduct weddings in the State of New York can officiate at your wedding. The Stone Church does not supply an officiant. It is up to you to identify and retain an officiant and to provide for all other supporting services, including music, flowers and photography. A list of possible officiants, other service providers, sites for receptions and other similar information is included in the Wedding Resources document found on the Weddings & Events page at www.cragsmoorstonechurch.info.
  8. The Church is heated but not air-conditioned and has a single indoor bathroom located in the sacristy (making it inaccessible during the actual wedding service). An electronic organ and a digital piano are available, but you must let us know if you plan to use either.
  9. Your use of the Church will include only the wedding and the rehearsal. You may not have any other event on Church property.
  10. You are fully responsible for any and all damage that occurs while your wedding party is using the Church. Please note that only birdseed or bubbles may be used at the end of the wedding (no rice), and these items may be used outside the Church only. Also, no alcohol may be brought into the Church, with the exception of communion wine or an informal toast for the wedding party.
  11. The legal capacity of the church is 147 people, but it starts to feel crowded around 100.
  12. Cragsmoor is a rural hamlet, with narrow roads. Please tell your wedding guests that it is important that they drive slowly through Cragsmoor to the Stone Church. Many Cragsmoor residents are walking on the roads, and their safety is very important. Thank you.
