Reflections from the Hebrew tradition
The closing service of the summer season
A candlelit December evening of scripture, song, and silence — the chapel's most beloved annual tradition. Free and open to all. Bring family, bring friends. The bell rings before, the candles glow within.
Whether it's your first Sunday or your fiftieth, here are a few things worth knowing before you make the drive up the ridge.
The chapel is open by 10:45 AM. Park along Henry Road or in the small lot. Walk the bluestone path, ring the bell if you're moved to.
There is no dress code. Hiking boots, summer dresses, denim — the chapel has seen all of it. Bring a layer; the stones stay cool.
Each service runs roughly an hour. Expect readings, hymns, a sermon or reflection, and quiet. The format shifts gently with each speaker.
Kids, dogs on leash on the grounds, and quiet babies are all part of the regular Sunday. The chapel is small — every seat is a good one.
